Kiafas house09/09
The house is sited at the entrance to a village, surrounded by fields. Starting with the generic rectangular box of a suburban home the corners are carved away bringing light, ventilation and views into the centre of the house. This subtraction creates an efficient arrangement of spaces all but eliminating circulation. The communal spaces of the house enjoy the contrast between orthogonal and curved walls. The house remains protected under a red-tile roof. The collision of generic roof and organic plan creates unexpected conditions and spaces. status: planning permission
